Today's Design : HAVE A BLUE CRYSTAL METH
Please tell us about this art.
Walter White is full of Christmas cheer this holiday season, and he’s using the gift of his blue ice crystals to bring joy to all the boys and girls—for a price! ;)
What inspired this work? What does the work represent?
I thought of everything that had to do with Christmas, and the song “Blue Christmas” by Elvis Presley had me thinking of Heisenberg’s “sky blue” crystal meth, and that pretty much wrote the pun that would become the inspiration for this design… That and if you say “Crystal Meth” really fast, it sounds like “Christmas.” ;)
Anything your fans should particularly know to enjoy this art?
The feeling that comes to you when you wear a clever Christmas shirt based on one of your favorite shows on TV and people laugh at your chest.
Please tell us a little about you.
I'm a 27-year-old dude who loves writing, art and bagels. And iced coffee.
Where do you live and what do you do?
Ah, well, I'm a Freelance Digital Artist based in Portland, Oregon. I have a passion for storytelling and using art to tell a story. I'm working on a novel as well as a comic version of that novel concurrently. I'm almost done with the novel, so I hope to have it finished by June this year.
Art- your passion, or living, or both?
Mainly my passion for now. Until I get employed in the industry, there's no way I can subsist on a Freelance Art career. I've been doing art all my life, never having the desire to do it crushed out of me like so many others. I've always lived honestly, and if I didn't want to do something, I didn't do it.
Please tell us about your most favorite shirt.
That prize goes to this Happy Gilmore shirt I used to own that I bought from Hot Topic. Not sure where it's gone, but it was my favorite at the time. It was Bob Barker in fisticuffs stance saying "The Price is WRONG, BITCH!" Yeah. Even though (just nerding out here), technically, Happy said that line, it's still hilarious. I love things that push the limits of what's prudent. I do it all the time.
Your childhood dream? Favorite character?
My childhood dream was to be a Cartoonist, strangely… I guess in a way I've accomplished that dream, though I'm not exactly bathing in riches or anything. I don't think I dreamed of being Scrooge McDuck anyway, though.
What do you do the best? The worst?
Honesty. To a fault. So much so that it's gotten me in trouble more than a few times. Heh… The thing I'm worst at is probably keeping my opinions to myself.
